Buzz up!
There was a flurry of activity in the Shady camp over the last 24 hours as anticipation mounts for Eminem’s May 19 release of “Relapse.”

The biggest news being a contest that can be accessed at www.Eminem.com about a CD-release event in Detroit.

“Hey you! Enter now for your chance to see Eminem in his hometown of Detroit, MI on 5/18!” the language on the Web page says.

Grand prize includes two round-trip airfare tickets, hotel accommodations and two tickets to the Eminem CD-release event on May 19 in Detroit.

Eminem also spoke to Angela Yee this morning on his Shade 45 Sirius satellite radio station.

In the interview, Em says “Relapse” is produced exclusively by Dr. Dre (except Em coproduced the lead single “We Made You” with him and did one other track himself), “Relapse 2” will be out at the end of the year as rumored, and the state of rap is getting back to a good place again, “Because I’m back.”

He also said the second single's video for "3 a.m." was already shot in Detroit.

As far as possible collaborations, Em says he hasn’t had much time to work with other artists as he has been locked down in the studio with Dre, but he is a fan of Kanye West, T.I. and Lil Wayne.

And for fans who aren’t feeling the new single “We Made You,” Eminem says the rest of “Relapse” will have a different feel than the celebrity-mocking chart-blazer.

“Dre produced the whole album – he made a lot of tracks and I would pick the ones that challenged me rhythm wise. This album I actually had the opportunity to go all out,” Eminem says.

“The whole album is on a different vibe than the single.”

Other Shady action buzzing includes the launch of a new “Relapse” promotion Web site, designed around a phony rehab facility called Popsomp Hills Rehabilitation Center.

A welcome letter, an “about us” section, a contact section (with a Bloomfield Hills address) and a resources center that links to actual drug-and-alcohol rehab sources are on the Web site.

The Internet chatter begins with an image of Mathers in front of a large facility with the caption “Marshall checking in to Popsomp Hills” and was released early today via his Twitter account.

Connecting the dots, the fictitious doctor behind Popsomp Hills (which sounds suspiciously like “Pop some pills”), “Dr. Balzac” seems to be inspired by an image posted on Shady Records President Paul Rosenberg’s blog http://paulrosenblog.com

Under a posting April 21 called “Balls Brothers,” Rosenberg shares images from a recent European trek where he came across a place called Balzac Coffee in Berlin.

And if this isn’t quite enough Eminem talk for you, rumors online at www.rap-up.com say Slim Shady might do three nights on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

The site posts the dates of May 15, May 19 and May 22.

That, of course, seems hard to do as Eminem’s contest says he’ll be in Detroit May 19.
