Sunday night's 2009 MTV Video Music Awards just got much bigger. For starters, for the first time on TV, Jay-Z and Alicia Keys will perform the song "Empire State of Mind" from Jay's new album, The Blueprint 3.
And, Eminem, who practically stole the show at the MTV Movie Awards earlier this year thanks to a run-in with Brüno, will make a special appearance during the broadcast, which airs at 9 p.m. ET.
A slate of additional VMA presenters has also been announced, including Jennifer Lopez, Megan Fox, Shakira, Jack Black, 50 Cent, Andy Samberg, Jimmy Fallon, Kristin Cavallari, Pete Wentz, Gerard Butler, Tracy Morgan, Adam Brody, Alexa Chung, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Cobra Starship's Gabe Saporta and singer Justin Bieber.
They join a previously announced roster of presenters that includes Ne-Yo, Nelly Furtado, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Chace Crawford, Leighton Meester and Miranda Cosgrove. Hosting the 26th annual show will be British comedian Russell Brand, making an encore appearance as MC.
The broadcast will also feature Janet Jackson's tribute to her late brother, Michael, and performances by Beyoncé, Pink, Lady Gaga, Green Day, Taylor Swift and Muse. Buzz rapper Wale and the legendary go-go band UCB will be the night's house band, collaborating with Kid Cudi, All-American Rejects, Pitbull and 3OH!3.
As if all that onstage action weren't enough, the broadcast will also host the debut of the trailer for the eagerly anticipated Michael Jackson documentary, "This Is It," as well as a first look at the extended trailer from the second installment of the "Twilight" vampire franchise, "New Moon."
