PostSubject: Eminem, 50 Cent LPs Among Top-Selling Albums Of Past 10 Years   Sat Mar 17, 2012 1:52 pm

With the breakout success of Adele's 21 album, and it selling more than 8 million copies within the U.S., Yahoo's Chart Watch blog decided to run a list of the top-selling albums of the past decade in which Eminem, 50 Cent, Usher, Outkast and Nelly all land within the top 25.

"Nielsen SoundScan has tracked sales for Billboard since 1991. It maintains a running list of the 200 best-selling albums in its history, but that list is dominated by albums from the 1990s and early 2000s, when overall sales were much more robust than they are today," writes Yahoo! blogger Paul Grein. "Phenomenal hits like 21 were much more common back then. It's almost unfair to compare albums from that era to albums from the last decade. So I extracted this list, of the best-selling albums of the last 10 years, from Nielsen SoundScan's larger list. Now we're comparing apples to apples."

Topping the list is Norah Jones' 2002 album, Come Away With Me, selling over 10 million copies; Eminem's fourth LP, 2002's The Eminem Show, comes in behind her at #2 with just over 10 million sold; and Usher's 2004 album, Confessions, lands at #3 with just under 10 million.

Eminem and 50 Cent both land on the list again, later in the rankings, with 2004's Encore and 50's 2005 album, The Massacre.
