All weekend long we had a crew on the ground of the hottest music fest of the summer Lollapalooza, and their sharing the crazy experiences with you!
As early as an hour before Eminem‘s set the worshippers at Grant Park began to mecca across the park in order to pay homage to the muti platinum recording artist.
In fact, the crowd was so incredible that you were either going to to battle with the hundreds of thousands of bodies pressing shoulder-to-shoulder, smothering in the humidity, sweat and anxiety filling the air or not.
I chose not to fight. I didn’t take a stand. In fact, after I got kicked out of the backstage area (that I managed to talk my way into during Cee Lo‘s set) by Eminem’s militant security forces, I could not bring myself to cut all the way to the front.
Instead, I decided to get an ice cream cone near Buckingham Fountain, find a nice place to sit and avoid the stinking crowd. But little did I know, the crowd would grow so viciously that my panacea would become apart of it all.
Eminem, is of course a mega, superstar. And when people pay outrageous amounts of money to go to a festival they want to see the headliner.
I was here last year and I’d venture to say that it was about a hundred times crazier at the Main Stage with Eminem than it was with Lady Gaga.
People amassed as far back as they could and then they took over the stairs that headed up towards the fountain. It was simply incredible.
Since this area is where I had planted myself, thinking I was under the impression that I would sort of get to watch without being cramped, but boy was I wrong.
Eventually, I had to stand to see anything, so many people were around me trying to catch a glimpse of Marshall Mathers in his consummate uniform of black pants, white t-shirt and black hoodie as he paraded around on stage.
Things got especially exciting when Eminem brought Royce da 5’9 and Bruno Mars onstage as guest performers for “Lighters.”
But the excitement didn’t stop there. During his 90 minute set, Em’ performed 25 songs including his hits “Stan,” “My Name Is” and “I Need A Doctor” with fellow Lollapalooza performer Skylar Grey.
