Kid Cudi and D12 members who performed on the controversial Heatwave bill have spoken out about the widely lambasted event.

After, the final instalment of the national 2012 Heatwave Festival in Melbourne ended in chaos, with the advertised Chamillionare not appearing on stage and headliner Kid Cudi challenging the event’s security, fans demanded refunds.

Cudi has since taken to his Tumblr blog to justify his trashing of the Heatwave stage, “If my set is EVER cut short at any show, im trashing the stage.

“Not out of anger, it takes a lot to get me furious nowadays, but out of principle. The fans always deserve a full set at all shows, especially when they spend their hard earned money on expensive tickets.

“A lot of artist wouldnt do what I did in Australia, but I will. Spread the word. No matter the circumstance, cut my set short, im breaking shit. And next time im startin a riot. Me and my fans. Cause promoters will sometime take advantage of the artists, and u gotta let em know what time it is.”

Questions were also raised about the dearth of D12 members to appear considering it was the D12 brand advertised on the bill.

While festival-goers were informed that Bizarre wouldn’t be performing with the Purple Pills posse, and that refunds were available (and D12’er Eminem was obviously never coming), D12’s Swifty McVay (aka Ondre Moore) arrived in Sydney Friday, the Detroiters not showing for earlier Heatwave dates. The promoter initially attributed this to missed flights on Facebook, then visa issues.

Moore has since been gigging “in full effect” with Kuniva, plus non-D12er Maestro and a DJ, Don Q. Moore told Your Daily SPA that Bizarre was unable to tour due to poor health. “Bizarre’s too ill right now – he’s going through some things right now physically.”

However Moore downplayed the trouble at Melbourne’s Heatwave. “We’ve seen a couple of fights in the audience… I don’t remember if it was Melbourne or not. If it was, I didn’t see it!”

Eminem’s original crew, D12 are working towards another album – their first since 2004’s D12 World and the passing of Proof two years later.

Moore then confirmed that Eminem will be involved in the next D12 album. “We did a mixtape last year called Return Of The Dozen, Vol. 2 and in that process we did a whole gang of songs. We got songs for mixtapes and we got songs for albums, so we sitting on them. But the new album is definitely on the way and we’re definitely working and we definitely got another mixtape coming out, so we’re in work mode, most definitely.”

D12 are touring Australia in their own right with gigs mostly at smaller venues, in addition to the MAD Festival in Mackay, Queensland, this Thursday, Australia Day.
